I think John left this in place as a kind of in memorium because he believes byg sadly passed away.
Also I've been stymied this season with the club putting streams on facebook where I'm no longer a member, I haven't seen a youth game all season.

You are correct. Sadly, I do believe that to have happened.

That's really sad. Does the whole forum know?
Maybe post a memorial sticky and dig out some of his best posts?

Kyle Hurst gone on loan to alvechurch till the end of the season. Surprised he went that low but it’s much needed mens football while also allowing him to likely play in the u23s

The O'Connor effect I suspect, as you say better to be playing competitive men's footy even at that level than just doing the same old same old in the U-23's.

Personally I'd have been looking to release Bailey and Andrews as I don't see them stepping up, just my opinion of course.
It should also be noted players got extensions triggered or new deals last Summer only to be sold in short order such as Lakin and Boyd-Munce and the same again shouldn't be ruled out, though I'm inclined to think that'd be tough in today's market, it is possible.

I tend to agree about bailey but Andrews is worth another season at least big, strong and surprisingly quick for a big lad, also has a good touch.

just my opinion and biased against Andrews as he's not my type of striker so very hard for me to be enthusiastic about him. Quite honestly though I'll be surpised if he ever plays regularly above division two. I'd love to be wrong and have loads of posters constantly reminding me how I didn't rate him and we've just sold him for 20 million but truly how many giant footballers have been any good?
His body frame is enormous and can only imagine even whilst training he'll only fill out and slow down over the next few years, the stresses on that body running it around a football pitch I think will also take ther toll, he should have tried rugby. Even if I'm wrong about all that though, truth is I don't think his first touch is that good, it's actually one of the first things I ever noticed about him as a straight forward pass from 15 yards away cannoned off his shin into touch. He's a blues kid and I want them ALL to succeed, but my honest opinion is he's a novelty that has got by in youth football by being a bit of a monster but in men's football he's going to be left far far behind, would still love to be wrong though.

Has he not scored 5 in 15 for Rochdale and they are certainly men down in div 1

Has he not scored 5 in 15 for Rochdale and they are certainly men down in div 1
He's scored a goal in the FA Cup against non league opposition and another in the FA Trophy against an U-23 side.
In division two he's scored 3 in 16 appearances (7 starts and coming off the bench 9 times)
He hasn't started a game for Rochdale since January 15th and even taking into account he was injured for a few weeks since being fit again in early/mid March he's played a total of 50 minutes from 4 short sub stints since then.
Again I'd love to be wrong but I think he'll just be the latest in a long long line of blues youth strikers that the fans build up to only be disappointed in the end. I'll be extremely surprised if he gets a loan next season at a better club than Rochdale who are currently the 5th worst team in English football and he can't get regular appearances for them nevermind starts.
He won't turn 21 until October so you could say he still has time but for me that enormous frame (has he stopped growing yet?) that has benefitted him through youth football will be his undoing in the men's game and increasingly so as he ages, time will tell but I've never seen a professional footballer that looks like him.
I do think we've got a few defenders with a chance and a plethora of midfielders that are very promising, hope O'Connor gets some of them good loans though because they'll just stagnate hanging around the U-23's.

I'm hearing rumours that blues could lose category 1 status because of their failure to invest.

They’ve had some or will be having an audit. All that’s been said is that we could lose it if the results are bad. Which is pretty obvious and no groundbreaking news.

I'm hearing rumours that blues could lose category 1 status because of their failure to invest. Been saying that almost from the minute they achieved Cat 1 status that having done so they were running it on a shoestring. They appointed what'shisface as director who'd never done it before, didn't recruit any new youth players despite they making a significant step up in terms of opposition quality but carried on with what they had, lost numerous members of staff that as far as we can tell were never replaced in number. Remember Dong wanted to scrap the academy entirely and only the fan backlash caused a u-turn but the reasons for wanting to do that (cutting costs) never went away.

What boxes need ticking for Cat 1 & 2? It’s seems such a flawed system.
Shrewsbury Town have recently sold 3 x 14 years olds to Man Utd, Paris SG, and some other EU club, all for an alleged combined package of £5mil!
Why are Birmingham not finding these players on their doorstep?

Be nice if they get their finger out to announce the 1st year scholars too rather than us waiting until half way into the season like lst season.

I don't often say this but think this one could come back to bite us on the arse. He's still a bit lightweight but could see him really flourishing in div one/div two and going for decent money one day. That said if Eustace is going 3 at the back long term, wingers liike him don't really have a place, he's certainly no wingback.

If you fancy a second team to watch, Forest Green have ex blues youth Dom Bernard, Corey O'Keeffe and Reece Brown on their books this season aswell as signing up David 'Digger' Davis.

Think he's been lacking a bit physically but technically a good winger, should have had a couple of good loans though to help him progress, will be interested to see how he goes.
