According to BBC they were chanting for Abramovich This is the mire that you get into when sport gets dragged into politics. Playing devil's advocate, many Chelsea fans are going to question why their club is going to suffer whilst Newcastle United have just got Saudi Arabian owners despite the country bombing Yemen. Should China be banned from International competitions? Some might say the USA should be banned.

Exactly.
The Newcastle owner was due to marry an 11 year old a couple years ago!
There is selective criticism in the world today. Even now whilst I am opposed to Putin you have the Ukraine leader telling civilians to take up arms and defend their country and then people ask why so many civilian deaths? In Iraq we called these people insurgents now they are civilians?
You can't have it both ways in war.
Most countries will build ammunitions factories near schools and hospitals so they can claim the opponent is bombing civilians.

You may have noticed Russia waited until the Olympics in China had finished, before kicking off. My guess, at China's request. I really don't think pushing Russia into the arms of China is going to end well.

Would you not expect our leaders to say the same in this country if we were in the same predicament. I would. It depends. At first glance, they shouldn't need telling. However: Depends upon who we were at war with. There are plenty of people in this country who's patriotism does not lie with good old England. I wouldn't arm them. Also, if the government can see the people are going to get themselves uselessly slaughtered, then the government should tell them not to engage with a far superior force. This is why generals surrender.

I hate to think what might happen if the young were forced to join up like in previous world wars. Lot of white feathers pinned to front doors I feel.

I hate to think what might happen if the young were forced to join up like in previous world wars. Lot of white feathers pinned to front doors I feel. I've plenty of mixed feeling on that one. It seems to me that patriotism and national identity is being deliberately knocked out of our people by the ruling class, media & education. So that's not going to help. Also, it is a fact that our cities contain many people who fly the flags of other nations, and quite a few of them dispise our own. That won't help. Still, I imagine the push to 'be more inclusive' in recruitment would change. Tough working class young men would be favoured over diversity, gender equality, alphabet people & trans this and that. Still, as I often do, I think about the Christmas truce, and the football game in no man's land. I understand the soldiers on both sides didn't want to get back to the business of plunging bayonets into each other. I understand the officers on both side even shot some of their soldiers, as a means of motivating the others. I wish they'd had shot their leaders, shoved their white feathers up their arses, made friends and gone home.

It'd remind me of the covid priority, but that wasn't shown on TV, and I'm not convinced the Russian priority is stopping kids cancer treatment.

The war seems to have eradicated covid though As covid eradicated flu. Not that I miss 24/7 coverage of how many new cases there are of people who didn't know they had it, or number of people who died from drowing who had a positive test 2 weeks before. Doesn't seem so important now. Not worth mentioning. I saw the House of Commons clapping some Ukranian guy, for no other reason than he was Ukranian, as far as I could tell. If I'd have been there, I'd have advised him not to get too comfortable. They clapped the doctors and nurses, called the heroes, then threatened to sack them, if they didn't do what they were told, against their own personal medical opinion.

Told ya this guy was dodge lol
Just think. Right now they can’t be football shirts can’t buy cup tickets can’t do squat.
Newcastle grab for power is perfect Rudiger would be a steal Kante only 18 months left on his deal.
£3bn to good causes? Nah!
The buyers must be chuckling cos market rate is half that and Boris is like their new chairman lol
Glory days are over a sensible arsenal style businessman will pick them up £2bn max and we can put the money towards paying for topping the gas meter up.

I don't really like the guy, and I don't know much about Russian billionaires in the UK. My thoughts on immigration are reasonably well known. As a rule of thumb, billionaires are very welcome. I don't know what he's supposed to have done, but whatever it is, he's been doing it for years, without any issues. Considering the absolute dross we take into this country, with both known and unknown dodgy connections, I personally don't see the sense in getting shot of billionaires. Or worrying more about Ukranian borders than our own, for that matter.

So why the huge applause for the president of a corrupt nation, who's under attack, and who fcuked off and left 'em to it, so the house of commons could show their appreciation for a job well done ? As I said, if I were him, I wouldn't count on those MPs being friends for life.

Do I understand the situation correctly - has the government confiscated Chelsea FC ? No. It's restricted the way in which it operates so that its owner does not benefit from its income. Do you not have access to the media? Are you in some sort of bunker or do you only get your news from YouTube loons?
