Players in our academy aren't coming through physically strong enough and it's holding some players back. They've made the decision to try to expose younger players to mens football earlier to aid their development.

Cheers Dan, there's quite a few errors on contract length (Stirk, Harding, Davis, Dutch and Colin) and missing options on Keita, Dean, Craigy, Mrabti and Lakin.
That said I like that you can get players age and D.O.B on there, I wanted to do that but couldn't do it with my representation without it becoming a confusing mess and also like the position and alternate position column. The spreadsheet layout obviously allows for a more comprehensive and readable data set. Also although I've no experience myself, others have said on mobiles my layout is difficult to read.
However my intention was mainly to have complete squads at various levels and their individual contract situations and for that, at least from my perspective and viewing only on pc/laptop, I just prefer the layout I've been using as an intuitive visual aid, as imo it's easier at a glance to find a particular player and assess strength in various areas of the pitch.
It's still something though that I think a lot of people would find useful, especially those that access via mobile more. I can't edit your doc but if you did you can add it as an attachment in a post.
Still a work in progress mate. Working on the under 18s stuff next (btw I'm keeping it as just something I can edit right now. Lone wolf and all that )

Still 6 of the development squad unconfirmed as signing the deals offered not including Luyambula who remains mysteriously omitted from press releases. Luyambula definitely back in Birmingham for pre-season. Got back a couple of days ago.

Great news Screamo heard good things about him, Any news on Bellingham?
Are we in talks or close to signing anyone for first team? Peps interview says he wants them in asap to fit in and become 'one of the lads' as quickly as possible

Just Odin Bailey left of the development squad players to sign his deal, still lots of potential with him, would be good to get him out to a div two club for a season, think he'd be great taking over Reece Brown's role at Forest Green.

One other thing to note re all the u23 deals signed this Summer, not a single option in the club's favour mentioned. As the club almost always do this I'm inclined to believe they do in fact hold options on some of these deals but for whatever reason have chosen not to mention them this time around, which seems totally pointless.
NB
Stirk's deal was agreed before this Summer.

Bailey is in and training with the u23s. I know he had an ongoing issue for a while, but I believe that should be sorted now. I expect he will sign.

Hope so because between the academy 16 and 17 year olds and the first team he's about the only striker/secondary striker left.

Done now that's all the U23's signed up, just the frighteningly thin first team squad to sort now, oh and announce the new first year scholars. I'm aware I think of most of them but will wait for the official confirmation, whenever that may be.

I looked at that and counted 21 players in the squad, realistically another 4 on are the way out so we need 7 players to have a competitive squad for the season. 2x striker 2x winger 1x midfielder 1x centre back

I don't count them at present as they are all incredibly unlikely to contribute anything next season (Keif could in 2020 but that isnt guaranteed and he wont exactly suit our expected style of play) That gives us 17 players. If we are going to play a possession based game we need: GK LB CB x 2 CM x 2 Winger x 2 Number 10 (we seem to want one) Striker x 2 That is 11 players by my count, obviously that wont happen so we might have to sacrifice a striker and a CB. That would take us to 26 players who might actually contribute.

I'm in agreement with mm in terms of numbers and positions. Could make an argument for one less CB at least until January but I see it pretty much the same way. Obviously we still don't know for a fact what our formation will be but on the basis that the vast majority of possession based sides play some version of 4-5-1, central midfielders that can keep and use the ball and wingers (we've only got one) are in very short supply, even the numbers mm suggests leaves us having to start calling up the kids in parts when injuries/suspensions kick in.

Rightly or wrongly I'm still expecting 2 of the leftbacks, Stockdale, Trueman, Cogley and dependent on incomings possibly Davis to either be gone or not utilised.
I'm also not ruling out Juke going, on a purely style basis I'm struggling to see how he fits in, he's also out of contract in 12 months (though we have an option) and though it's gone quiet we allegedly have a 2 million offer on the table for Vassell.
Also strictly speaking whilst I don't buy into the Roberts is crap view, he's possibly less suited to the style of football being proposed than Morrison was.

If its any less than 8 or 9 we will be leaving ourselves very short IMO. Good news about Seddon signing, I'm quite surprised as it looked like he could be off. He should be 2nd choice left back IMO.

Unfortunately this forum seems to delete older posts automatically so I can't link to last year's thread I did for how many signings each championship club made but most seasons from memory I'd say there's 3 - 5 sides that bring in 11 or more players and I'm pretty sure Hudders brought in 12 or 13 the season they went up, mind you they did have virtually all of them there for day 1 of pre season, which obviously helps with the bedding in.
PS
Again going from memory I seem to recall that 7-9 signings was close to an optimum number when cross-referencing with promoted sides and sides that out-performed expectations.

You need to do an update bubba. Few new contracts handed out and a couple of the development squad out on loan.

As far as I can tell only Juke's new contract hadn't been updated and the loans of Hutton and McCoy,all now done, let me know if you think I've missed anyone, cheers.

To be fair to the board the contract situations look a lot healthier now we've extended Dean's, Colin's and Juke's contracts. Before that half the squad were out if contract at the end if the season.
Now from what I can tell it will be Maghoma, Mrabti, C Gardner, Camp and Stockdale out if contract. Out of those I can only see Maghoma and possibly Mrabti being offered new deals, and even that will depend on how well they do this season. It wouldn't surprise me to see them all leave.
Regardless of what business we do thus summer, I will give the board credit for making next years recruitment easier by sorting out contracts early. We have the whole season to scout for the positions we will need to strengthen most next year.
Now we just need to get the 3 or 4 players we need for this season! Lol

This. It also isnt going to matter who we sign if we persist with the current formation IMO.
