Cheers screamo, there's still a lot of players left unmentioned by either the official statement or your post. Some have options but assuming you are correct that hasn't stopped the likes of Martin and Dawes being released, afterall they are options not guarantees. There are others out of contract in the Summer but completely unmentioned, yet would be surprised if all those in that category were to be let go.

Yeah, not quite syncing up there. These were passed on to me verbally, not always easy to remember. I was given a few other names of players retained and offered scholarships, but they’ve not been mentioned officially yet either. I’m sure there’s a reason for it.

OK cheers, will wait and see, my gut feeling is the majority of the so far unmentioned ones (excluding those you've said are leaving) will be offered terms.

I think a deal for Mitchell to Wolves is done. Tbh, it's a fuss about nothing. Not even sure he's that good. Mitchell is now due to take a trial with Southampton. It sounds like it was an impressive trial.

Is this agent/parent driven?
Is he a local lad?
We've lost others before but can't remember one making as much noise about it, what do the kid/his parents/agent think are the benefits of moving across the country at his age?

He is local, his family are close with the Sturridges. I've heard some stuff about Dean Sturridge representing him and touting him around a lot. There were stories of Man U and Liverpool interested, but they were fabricated. Anyway, think he's off to Southampton.

He has indeed gone to Southampton. Thanks and for answering my last post. Forgetting Mitchell I would always question any agent's true motivations when looking to move a 15 year old lad 200 miles across the country at the most important time when they should be preparing for their GCSE's, let's remember most kids won't make it, and often some of what appear the most promising at that age. We all know of someone either directly or through a friend of a friend that was dynamite and even got taken on by a club only to fall by the wayside, I know from one cousin who did make it all the way that the single best kid in his academy through all the age groups ended up in non league, it happens all the time.

I seriously think the catchment area scenario should be looked at again.
For reasons like this moving are aged 15 is not ideal. I dare say Foday Nabay is a good example of why upping sticks is not a good one. I believe he is now at Nuneaton Borough!!
I reckon once committed to a club in their teen years they should remain until pro terms are either signed or not.

This is why we should be blooding the likes of Bellingham in these dead rubber games. Just think what a lift it would've given the crowd at St Andrews versus Wigan.

Do we have any good young midfielders that can make the step up and fill the holes left by Kieftenbeld, Gary Gardner or Connor Mahoney?

O Keeffe probably won’t make it but needs some men’s football to find out if he can Haven’t seen enough of our current academy crop to make a decision

Jeacock must be good? Has anybody seen him play? I on and off watched the u-23 final on Leeds tv. Didn’t concede but didn’t have much to do. I used to watch a lot of u-23 a few years ago but don’t have the time these days . Don’t take my opinions on u-23s seriously though because I didn’t see what the fuss was about with Demarai and thought Hancox was a future premier league full back based on what I saw.

I think Zach is excellent, he'll definitely make it as a decent level pro. Not bad for kid that was playing centre back four years ago.

Thanks selly and I thought they were both very overated, what do we know. Unlike screamo who know a lot and lets hope Zach grows and grows, good luck to the kid and only 18.

We’ve signed this french lad Yoanne Zohoré for the academy. He’s 16 and apparently he’s very highly rated.

Rhys Hilton played in the development squad's defeat today to the baggies, which is strange because he was released at the end of last season. ? ? ? ?

Cheers, interesting, although a dearth of available strikers for the development squad probably helped his case too.
