looking like one out of hudders and wednesday to join us and rovrum, we are done, weak minded, lacking physicality, lacking desire in numbers that no blues squad in my lifetime compares to.
If they made the last few weeks a street fighting or UFC competition for 3 points a match we'd still keep losing. The sad truth is they are basically pussies, that's not said as an insult, it's just a genuine observation. When your back's against the wall and you have to summon up the guts and mental strength to fight your way out of a situation and all you can muster is what those players did against Cardiff it really tells you everything you need to know. They just don't have it in them to draw a line in the sand and say no more, they just don't have it, it's not about talent it's about there being no leaders amongst them and in the absence of that they just choose to lie down because there's no well within them to draw from.
I'll tell you something else, when we go down the loanees and released players will number 12 or more. We'll sell a couple like JJ and Bielik and maybe loan out a couple like Paik and maybe Tyler Roberts AND WE'LL STILL be completely devoid of leadership and still have too many players weak of mind and body. People didn't like Troy or Harlee but they wouldn't have laid down like this lot. Even the good footballing sides in this division have a bit of snarl about them, not us, there's just nothing. Kieftenbeld, David Davis, Paul Robinson, Donaldson, Maghoma etc etc, far far more limited or over the hill players in the main and beat this lot upsides down 7 days week.
Stansfield, Ruddy and Gary Gardner are the only ones I would say have the fire in their belly to fight tooth and nail for it and not exactly the same but a nod to the likes of Miyoshi, Bacuna and Sunjic who will put an absolute shift in but really probably only Ruddy that you'd say has leadership qualites, it's just not enough.
Alsso have to say that Rowett has really disappointed me. I get that he feels limited in what he can do because of the make up especially physically of the squad, it's a legitmate observation, but he's basically gone down the route of doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome, and yeah it is insanity.
Sorry mate but you are now saying what I've been saying about the squad all season. Yes managers, owners have to take responsibility but this lot are poor. I have never been a fan of Rowett even in the blues 'glory' days when people were gutted when he was sacked. I would never have put him in charge again but he's our manager and I will support him till the end, which is soon. I have put a couple of comments on this forum recently and no one has responded. I think they must finally agree with me. KRO you never know.

I would also say the “Another result goes against us” argument is invalid. 50 points was, and still will be, enough to survive. The thing is, all the teams around us have just been doing it, putting in shifts and showing some occasional balls and nous. Scrapping and getting results.
We ain’t. The results going against us are the ones we were involved in.
That’s because we need a leader on the pitch, two up front, and now a total mental reset for the last 4 games. And unless Rowett is some kind of bloody magician…..
We lose fail to win today and we need (as a minimum) two away wins on the bounce. Pretty easy, uh? Given our away record. No pressure at all on today then. Over to you, Gary.

I'm not sure I am. If I have this wrong then please correct me but as far as I'm aware your contention has been that they are just poor players, in fact you say it above, whereas I think you could take a lot of these individuals out and put them in a side with a bit more fight and they'd be perfectly fine. Basically it's our collective lack of fight which is a big component of our poor results, rathr than a lack of inate ability.
Now you could contend that having that desire and will to not be beaten is part of what constitutes a player being designated poor or otherwise and in that case I wouldn't argue. So you could argue semantics but I do think there's a slight but significant difference in our p.o.v, namely if we had or 4 more battlers in there the lack of bottle by some of the others would be far less of an issue whereas you'd still say they are poor players.
Either way, we can agree we don't have those missing battlers and what's left can't get the job done, a bunch of impotents at a brothel.
PS
On Rowett as said before thought he did a good job up to a point when he was here the first time but when he was sacked I was actually fine with it because imo he'd stopped progressing us and again imo wasn't even interested in evolving us just taking plaudits for overachieving on a budget which to me looked like years and years to come of near play off misses watching dull football. Now tbf that sounds like dreamland compared to what has followed but it doesn't change my thinking then in hindsight, still think it was the right thing to do, unfortunately we had dumbasfcuk owners who proceeded to appoint a succession of dreadful managers and one decent one who sadly wasn't satisfied with his good livng and wanted his hand in the till too.

Exactly, have said before I'm still smarting over refereeing mistakes that have really cost us but only Hudders and rovrum have won less, only Wednesday and rovrum have lost more, we've won one in ten and are right where we deserve to be.
People go on about the players playing who won't be here next season so not caring but Buchanan, Laird, Sanderson, JJ, Paik, Dembele and Tyler Roberts are all contracted beyond this season, are they standing out as wanting it more than the likes of Mark Roberts, Juke, Ruddy, Sunjic, GG, Stansfield? I don't think so.
A lot of fans want to apportion most the blame to Cook for sacking Eustace when Eustace had a large part of the responsibility for the recruitment and collecting together of such a large number of mentally weak players. Yes we were 6th after 11 games, big deal, yes they had great team spirit after 11 games, big deal. What people have to understand is being mentally weak is a character trait and it's all well and good when things are going well but when the going gets tough they get found out and it would have happened under Eustace too, he can't blow fairy dust up their skirts and grow them balls.

The lack of leadership from our captain was there for all to see when Cardiff scored. Instead of getting angry or doing a rallying call to the rest of the players he slumped to the ground like a petulant child.
I get that reaction in the 95th minute but not in the 65th minute. It looked like his reaction was one of a player shrugging his shoulders, giving up - that's NOT the person you want to look to for inspiration.

Blackburn lose? Well done Eustace, I had written them off a few weeks ago. Shows what a bit of grit can do.

Of course Blackburn beat Leeds and Plymouth beat Leicester. Our time is up if we don’t win today.

That's not the sign of determination to me. Pleased he was out of it.

On the subject of the thread title, I’m 50-50 now. After Cardiff in midweek I’d have put money on us going down.
But that performance today was something else. If we can reproduce it I think we will be okay.

I still think there's a twist from a team above us - even as late as them getting relegated on the last day/final whistle.

His logic was, if Blues won he was happy. If Blues lost, he was happy. I have no idea what happened if we drew. But the last I heard he had just lost all his replica shirts 🤣

Latest relegation probabilities (Opta)
Stoke <1% QPR 1% Blackburn 6% Plymouth 8%
Sheff Wed 45% —————————- Blues 54% Huddersfield 86%
Who Will be Relegated from the Championship?
Rotherham’s relegation has already been confirmed following their disastrous campaign, but the final two spots in the bottom three remain undecided with two matchdays left to play.
Watford and Millwall are now both definitely safe from the drop, with Millwall’s excellent wins over Leicester, Cardiff and Sunderland over the last three matchdays pulling them out of trouble.
This means that any two of seven teams could still face the drop to League One.
Sheffield Wednesday’s impressive win at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday pulled them out of the relegation zone and a point ahead of Birmingham City. They also hold a three-point advantage over 23rd-placed Huddersfield Town.
Huddersfield’s match against Birmingham this weekend is absolutely huge. If the Yorkshire side win, they could climb out of the relegation zone ahead of the final day on goal difference (if Sheffield Wednesday lose at home to West Brom). Considering their final game of the season is away at promotion-hunting Ipswich, this weekend feels like the last chance saloon for the Terriers.
If Birmingham win, they could not only give themselves a great chance of avoiding the drop, but potentially relegate Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.

I know there is some maths to say we could go Huddy and draw and stay up but the harsh reality is if we don't win there we are toast! Here's hoping to Saints beating Leicester tonight to keep that screw on all the top teams. The other variable is Hull v Coventry... If Hull win Coventry know the gig is almost up. If Coventry win Hull similar but Coventry have Rovers and Hull travel to Plymouth last day. With Hull fixtures being harder I would say lets hope for Coventry. Then it would be good if Leeds win at QPR then the top lot will be packed so tight none of them can let up last week. Also it still keeps QPR in range. Now I have said all this I will probably have a bet on all the opposites

I think the Cov game tomorrow is the really big one and I expected Stoke to beat Bristol last day if they had to so minimal effect them having an easier game now against Saints. That said perhaps the bigger damage could be Leicester could secure promotion next game by beating Preston which may end up with them on the beach and half cut last day against Blackburn so perhaps this was the bigger one afterall. Like I keep saying things just keep conspiring against us, if it can go wrong it amost always does this season.
We want Cov to beat Hull so that they go into that Blackburn game with play offs still a realistic possibility and hopefully beating them but not beating Ipswich in their other game in hand so hopefully Norwich are safely qualified before we play them last day and Ipswich have to beat Huddersfield to give themselves a chance.
Was hoping Leicester would drop points tonight because if Preston's last game was any indication they are definitely now on the beach which could see Leicester easily beating them.
There's quite a lot there I'm hoping to fall our way and the odds keep getting longer that they all will. The last dominoe to fall would be Wednesday beating the baggies next game if that happens and the rest doesn't go our way then we may end up having to win both our last 2 games which I hadn't really been contemplating.

Ipswich still have their game in hand so even if promotion is secured for anyone, the title is still well up for grabs and I’m sure they all want it very badly

I will lock the poll on Friday. Still time to change your votes….
Re-post from the other thread
Rotherham 100% Huddersfield 99.99% Blues 70%
Plymouth 22% Blackburn 5% Sheff Wed 3%
Play the weekends games 10 times. 7 times we go down. 3 times we survive.
For what it’s worth, I posted after the Cardiff game that I could see us drawing all the remaining games, with the best chance of a win being against Coventry. 🙈 I also posted that we (still) did not concede a penalty all season. ⚡️ 😳 Saturday = Drama, more drama, followed by more drama. Oh boy, this is going down to the wire….

I answered ‘no’ at the time and it’s still a no.
If I had to go to the bookies and bet, I wouldn’t back our lot. They’re not to be trusted and the last two games have proved that.

I still remain confident we will stay up, all we need to do is beat Norwich, easier said than done, but no reason why that cannot happen.
No good worrying about it, nothing any of us on here can do to influence ours, or other teams, results.

If we do win (and it is a big IF) then SW would need only 1 point away to dunderland which they will. That would save them bleakburn would need 1 point away to LC dont think they will. That would save them Plymouth need to beat Dull at home dont think they will. That would save them. So the conclusion is we must beat norwich, SIMPLES PEOPLE as the russians would say

If there's a crumb of comfort to cling to we are actually the tenth best home team this season compared to the second worst away. Funniiy enough the only team with an even bigger gap than us between their good home and poor away form isssssssssssssss Naarwich who are in fact the 7th worst away this season, actually 6th worst away after Stoke won yesterday so as well as they've done, away from home they've been no great shakes at all, Cov for example have been far better.

Agree, agree, agree. Except. Over the season, Norwich form has steadily improved and ours, well… Last 6 home games Blues W2, D0, L4 Last 6 away games Canaries W2, D2, L2 You also have to go back to 24th January for when Norwich last failed to score. And that was 1-0 away to Leeds. So, most likely, we will need to score at least 2 goals to win. Norwich will most likely not just turn up and roll over. No team wants to go into the playoffs on the back of a defeat. So the real question is, to get the required win, how are we going to score 2 or 3 goals against a team of about the same calibre of Coventry? Except, yes, we did that against Coventry. And most are still scratching their heads as to how we did that. Is Rowett a gambling man? Has always struck me as a play-it-safe kind of guy. We do at least need to partner Stansfield up front, surely?
