Good old Birmingham Mail.
Why accept an offer of £81m if the overall future income is zero? Yes, our offer is £31m less, but the income potential could be double that which not only will the city see but also the council.
Sometimes in life, you have to accept lower offers now to gain higher potential in the future - a sort of lower fee now for a player but with a higher sell on percentage factored in. Lazy, boring journalism that the city doesn't need but sadly we are stuck with it.

The difference is easy.
Do you sell a site for £80m and they build some offices, factories and retail there.
Or do you sell to someone for £50m and they inject a £3bn project to reignite a dead side of the city that creates thousands more jobs and gives something of focus for the city.
There’s nowt to do in Brum!
In reality the only other thing which would have been good is a rival theme park that brings everyone here.

Cllr Robert Alden seems to have the typical short-sighted £££ only view that I would expect someone of his calibre and position to hold.
1. Birmingham City Council were not (as) desperate for cash 2 years prior 2. Would he prefer to have built a few non-affordable rental apartments that benefits only a private equity firm, or 3. See the bigger picture, play the long game and have the Council consent to plans for a multi-faceted entertainment complex that is the envy of Europe and the rest of the UK?
Typical of the short-sighted penny-pinching fat morons who are running this country into the ground.
Oh yeah, and lazy-arse reporting, as we have all come to expect.

I think you will also find that he is vile 😉

The council showing favour to us is something we’re not use to. I think we can expect more objections as the process of signing off completely gets closer.
