For us in Brum, HS2 offers us investment, and a rise in our property prices. I have this feeling that Boris is going to drop ‘Red’ Birmingham, for the ‘newly Blue’ North, and instead direct the funds there.
What do you think?

I've deleted a post from a first time poster. Not the kind of stuff we encourage on here.
Benefit of the doubt is being exercised, but we's is watching! (Deliberate, before you say anything Will.)

I'm well out of the loop! Compulsory purchase order on their land. Found them a new site but they refused to move saying they needed a few million pounds upfront i believe. They were offered a few hundred thousand / 1/2 million i believe but said it wasnt enough and refused to move. I believe they eventually came to some sort of argrement but not sure on their current situation.

Let's hope so , the last thing we need is " fanny talking cockney cants " coming up here taking our jobs The majority of the British students at our universities are from London, and I meet many that have stayed here as graduates. Their reasons are that they can afford to start life here, & Birmingham has everything they need, plus employment. I’ve also met many families of all ages who have relocated to Brum. The invasion has already started!

What a waste of space and money... another backwards looking boo dangle by that suits everyone...Unions, Corporations, Labour and Tories... except the Taxpayer or Commuiter... who is going to use this premium service when the current West Coast line is only a few minutes slower from New Street, runs at well below capacity and charges well over a hundred quid for a standard day return... HS2 runs on Regency technology, doesn’t even go from Birmingham Curzon Street to anywhere but London ((you have to change at Birmingham International) and connects Manchester and Leeds via Birmingham because the trains can’t climb the Pennines and they couldn’t be arsed to tunnel through the gritstone... meanwhile the Japanese are running Maglev from Tokyo to Osaka and tunnelling beneath mountains.... Far better to just build a concrete toll road and let robotaxis and limos and specialist shuttles run at 150mph on demand... preferably electric... a Tesla Model S can almost do London to Birmingham now at that speed...driverless custom built vehicles built in West Midlands could invigorate our manufacturing economy... a 24 hour on demand cheaper service. With no signalling, no stations (so all points in between can be serviced)
Longer distance premium services would be undertaken by short haul electric aircraft or even VTOL aircraft... In short HS2 is already obselete..
