Fear v Free speech

Racism is not allowed and quite rightly so. My view is everyone should be welcome, and no-one should be made to feel uncomfortable / unwelcome because or their race, gender, nationality, political beliefs or sexual orientation and so on. 
I am 100% behind this, and would be very disappointed with anything less.

However. Facts are facts. Facts are not changed by feelings. 
Also nationality and religion is not the same thing as race. 
Having a go at someone for their nationality or religion is not acceptable, but it's not racist. 

Imagine this. A bunch of Blues supporters go on a rampage and start thumping people indiscriminately. 

The government decides to order a media black out in case it causes ill feelings.

So nothing is reported initially, and then after the trial, for one day only, the newspapers in a very low key way report:

Sports enthusiasts were sentenced today for happy slapping in Aston

All so the public don't assume all Blues fans are the same, and don't want to hurt Blues fans feelings.

Fear & racism. Nationality and religion is not the same thing as race.

I understand there is mission creep in the media regarding the term racism. I get that. 

'People from a continent which has 60% of the world's population were convicted of grooming'

Eh? What does that mean ? Some Japanese are going around giving people haircuts ?

Mods - what I'm getting at is, will mentioning someones nationality or religion be taken as breaking the no racism rule ?

If so, fine, I'll keep my thoughts to myself.

Also, assuming this post still exists, if anyone thought I was being racist previously, I'm sorry, this was not my intent.

Tony the moderating team are all for free speech, myself included.
We are not afraid to discuss contentious topics on here but let’s do so in a reasoned way without being offensive.
If you want to express views that are more extreme perhaps you should do them on a forum that is appropriate for those views and discussions.

And thanks to all the mods for the work you do, and more importantly the manner in which you do it.

No doubt this is a failing on my part, but I'm not 100% sure what the answer is.

As in, I've been perceived as being racist, and had no idea that was the case. I am fully aware that I'm oblivious to a lot of things.

I've lost count of the times when I thought I was being complimentary and it turned out I was offending someone. 

All I can say is, however poorly I might put something, I'm not intentionally being offensive. 

What will be will be I guess.

Bro. As a rule I wouldn't want to upset anyone. Generally I'd be horrified. Generally as in if I was mis-interpreted 

As in, first thing I thought of.

If someone want to change their sex. That's up to them. I'm libertarian. I'm all for freedom of speech, choice and so on. I believe everyone should be able to do as they wish, as long as it doesn't harm others. 

So for example, if some dude wants to pay for an op to remove his tackle, and give himself a nice rack. I don't think that's my business. 
If it's done on the NHS, as in I'm contributing (by force), it is my business. fcuk that. 
If some dude wants to change his name from Fred to Fiona, I don't see that as any different to some guy changing his name from Fred to Philip. I'd totally respect that, and call him his legal name. Hell out of politeness, I'd call him her, refer to her as she and so on. 

However, if I shagged some hottie and found out they started out as a guy, I'd be pretty sick, 'cos as far as I'm concerned, no matter what operations have taken place, my view is i'd just shagged a dude, this is my view and I wouldn't care if someone was offended by my view. 

Least of my worries actually, but my point is I wouldn't want to offend anyone, but if I state facts which do, so be it. 

Edit - Sorry, I don't mean so be it. If I know I'm breaking the rules, I won't do it regardless of what I think I should be able to say with free speech.
