“Doubling the capacity” is the words people have heard…
Is that 55/60k for the new stadium then?

I can't see it being less than 50k, it'll need to be at least that to do what they want ti do.

It would be a good move to design a 40,000 seat stadium that could have its capacity increased with future developments in mind (like raising the roof and adding an extra upper tier) - keep it realistic for now but have one eye on the future. I think it would also be good to add an arena big enough to have a retractable pitch so that it could be used for the women's and U21 teams but also doubles up as an events arena for things like concerts/other sporting events.
Some of the wording coming out of the women's game is that although it's great playing in your own home stadium it's also very soleless. For our women to be playing in a 29,000 seat stadium in front of a couple of thousand spectators turns it into just 'a stadium' - give them something that they could fill therefore generating an atmosphere.

I’m off to the next open house on Tuesday. The “theme” is ambition
Will be interesting to see what they disclose next week
I’ve heard that the railway end boxes are being cleared out and a panoramic restaurant/bar is being put in for next season

I would imagine it would be 60,000. They will have plans for many activities at the new stadium other than just football. NFL for one and rock concerts for another. I also think they will be confident of building the fan base in the coming years to fill that capacity. We have yet to really see the extent of their spending on the first team as they increase income streams to meet P&S requirements. Hopefully we can stay up and start the rebuilding of the team in the Championship. I await the next Open House with interest.

40k stadium, with some unique features like the large single bank of seating at spurs/dortmund - something to stop it feeling like a soulless bowl. As previously mentioned have a mechanism ‘built in’ whereby capacity can be increased. Love the idea of a direct walking route from Curzon St and Adderley Park.
Additionally, a neighbouring 10-15k stadium for womens/academy teams and training purposes. Potentially also bring in another local sporting team, such as Mosely rugby club.
Give them both a retractable roof and removable pitches allowing multiple events to be held. Large gigs, MLB and NFL at the main stadium. Basket ball, Tennis, Pickleball etc at the smaller. Additionally, create large, multi story car parks, hotel, exhibition halls, shopping and other sporting facilities. I’m thinking tennis/hockey (both ice and grass)/five a side. And maybe Karting as a ‘nod’ to the sites past use.
Redevelop st Andrews to commercial and/or residential to provide some additional income.
I think we’d need to retain Wast Hills for training and academy purposes, but maybe have the new wheels site as a ‘satellite’ base to attract more local kids.
Ambitious enough?

Wow, really great post. I was going to say many of the same things. Mindreader :-) Especially the 10K women's/academy adjoining stadium. Let's also elevate the main stadium and add underground parking. Metro station to add to the upgraded Adderley Park and Curzon Street. DEFINITELY a retractible roof, for other all-weather events. Including concerts. Of course, 5* hotel complex and casino. I think it needs to be 50-55K. That sounds about right. Then we have a decent sized venue for Internationals and semi-finals etc Question? Anybody know of or heard of plans for what will become of the old stadium? Maybe turn it into a large carpark with a walkway to the new site?

60,000 minimum they will build, why on earth would they build a 40,000 seater only when you want the really huge concerts and events. Also why build a 15,000 seater indoor when you would then be competing with the Nec and half the size of co op live in Manchester, neither makes sense. The question was already asked as regards buying either wast hills and Henley and the answer was neither, thats not to say they wont continue to use wast Hills though but not the impression given. I managed to speak to JD on saturday and was told even relegation makes no difference to there plans. I will be attending next tuesdays open house so hoping for more i formation but we will see, the council confirmation must be due any day now.

I’d rather have a 3/4 full 40k stadium rather than a 1/2 full 60k. Build a 40k with expansion in mind as the fanbase grows. We struggled to fill St Andrews with 30k at times in the mid 2000s when times were pretty good, let alone after the last few years of dross. We need time to rebuild fanbase. Too big too early and we’ll have a ground which will lack atmosphere on match day and May end up being resented. Also, I didn’t say an enclosed/indoor 15k stadium, I said build it with a retractable roof, giving us options to hold a variety of sports/events.

If it was just about Blues you would have a point, but it isn’t. we are just a small part of the whole plan and its being suggested the stadium can be built in such a way that can look full at 30,000 and extra seats opened if and when required bus allowi g bigger events to use full capacity.

While the priority for us is Blues, you have to look at how the stadium will be perceived nationally compared to other stadiums. And temper our expectations in line with A) What's best for BCFC B) What Knighthead view the stadium as.
Newcastle and Man United are both each looking to build a "Wembley of the north". All plans for a St James Park expansion are impossible. Both clubs will look to have stadiums of 80k plus. The new Old Trafford could exceed Wembley.
It's really going to be hard attract the NFL or concerts to a 60k stadium, when Spurs 60K seater is in London, and it has a proven track record for these events. Plus levelling-up good publicity of having those events in the north, as well as the bigger stature both Newcastle and Man United have - will make those stadiums more attractive.
A new stadium for Birmingham as a city, will have to be 70k plus to compete with the big stadiums in Newcastle and Manchester. A 60k stadium is all good if it was built now, with only Spurs, Twickhenham, West Ham, Principality and Old Trafford being the best competitors to Wembley. But in the long term by 2050, Newcastle and Manchester will both have a Wembley 2.0 each. Then you have to look at the 49ers plans for Leeds. They built a stadium in Silicon Valley, employing the person who built the infrastructure for Facebook, to help design their infrastructure. Leeds have a season ticket waiting list of 22,000. They could easily fill a 60k seater, if they establish themselves as a Premier League club in the top half. Celtic are already at 60k, and they could expand too.
Being in the middle of the country is a huge bonus for us. Especially if HS2 didn't get cancelled, it would of been so ideal having a central built national stadium for everyone across the UK.
The thing with building a 60k seater is, right now it stands out. It would actually make it the 9th-11th biggest stadium in the UK. But in the long-term, when so many more teams in the north could potentially have 60k seaters too, when it comes to getting NFL games or concerts by the biggest artists - suddenly its a very tough competition.
If it's about building a stadium that can host the odd NFL game, or the odd concert then great. But when you see Tom Brady touring the Etihad campus, and Tom Wagner talking about HS2 bringing the whole UK 1 hour from Birmingham - the type of stadium they are talking about is a Wembley 2.0, and that would be 70-80k plus.
Note: I am not advocating for a 70-80k plus stadium. But the expectations need to aligned with Knighthead's strategy for the stadium. If its a Wembley 2.0, then a 60k stadium in 20-30 years time won't stand out, amongst all the others that are likely to be built/expanded across the UK, thus making it harder to attract NFL, concerts etc. But if it's just a sensibly realistic 55-65k stadium with the odd NFL game, concert etc - then the expectations much must be tempered to that.

I'd be surprised if they built less than 50k
If we had a 55k version of the alegiant stadium it would be out of this world. The guy involved with our stadium group is the one who dealt with that project.
Even something remotely like that.
Have said it before a retractable roof is the only way you set yourself out from the crowd as so far Cardiff is the only UK stadium of size that offers this as a facility and in a country with rain like ours you simply have to do this to ensure the facility becomes a year round venue and not just some place that hosts 25 games and holds concerts from May to September.
It's a given we will be hosting an NFL team in the future it just depends in what capacity that actually looks.
I still believe we will be tenants as it's impossible to write that into the accounts of a club that makes £30m let alone a club making even £200m.

Of course we will be tenants
We are owned by knighthead, and knighthead will be the ones who will underwrite the building of the stadium - not Bcfc as a club

The Allegiant Stadium is truly a work of art - if that is the inspiration for our new stadium then WOW 😲😲
Things to take into consideration.
1) OVG that have built/designed the new Co-op Arena in Manchester are likely to be the ones behind everything we do going forward.
2) The Co-op Arena has a capacity of 23,500 and is on the same campus as The Etihad.
3) They are in the process of building a $2b casino complex in Las Vegas.
4) Tom Brady is in the process of becoming part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
So, Tom Brady will own part of an English football club (BCFC) and an American football club (LV Raiders), he and his counterparts are buying a huge plot of land that requires a new stadium/arena etc that just so happens that one of the counterparts specialises in building said stadiums and arenas, and the Co-Op Arena has already got some huge names lined up to perform in it.
The ONLY things stopping how big this 'project' can go are imagination and desire. Everything from who's involved to location are already in place - its now all about getting it right on the pitch to keep the momentum moving onwards and upwards.
ps - has anyone seen the Stansfield & Laird interview on the That's Football channel? Twice Laird referred to the project and it was interesting to hear that it sounds like everyone involved down at the club has had to sign NDA clauses.

Most of the retraceable pitch stadiums also have a retractable roof. If you want an all year around venue then both is the way.
vile will lose all of the summer revenue. Pink, Foo's, and Springstein will all come to us. Beat them off the pitch as well. They only way they compete is a new stadium at Alexander Stadium.

I just can’t see them giving us a free run to have the best stadium in the area and take away a chunk of their business. Then again, can they really just demolish all of their magnificent history at Vile Pork and start again in another stadium? And I’m not sure that banner on the North Stand can be moved, surely it’s listed?

We are ahead as it stands. The only viable place would be Alexander Stadium, and there would be many hurdles to jump before that happens. Plus it’s okay if you’ve got a car, but the public transport to that stadium is shocking. It’s only about twice the size maybe 3x though

They are obviously worried as their plans to expand Vile Park have been put on hold - even they think that putting lipstick on a pig still makes it a pig (though to most of them that is foreplay in their eyes). They've got nowhere to move to - literally. Yes they could go to the Alex but its nowhere near the size of the Wheels site so whatever concoction they come up with it will always be smaller. With a listed church on the one side and a listed Manor on the other, that's 50% of the expansion possibilities gone. Add a further 25% to residential housing leaves them just the area between them and the M6 which has got multiple industrial units on it - great history, but no future.....feck em 👍🏻😄😄
