So, after a window where we have signed 16/17 players I think, are there any positions where people are concerned about the strength? The one position I feel which will cost us is Goalkeeper. Every other position on the pitch I think we have at least 2 options that are, or are amongst, the best in the league. Allsop and BPF for me are just a shade off that. Allsop we know isn’t a great keeper, but is frighteningly good with his feet, BPF isn’t quite as good with his feet, but is a better keeper in the traditional sense. But I’d say both are kinda top mid pack when compared to other keepers in the league.
I just think that whilst these two will help us play the sort of football we want to, which is great, i think they’ll cost us goals and possibly points, as BPF almost did at the weekend, and we’ll be in the market for an upgrade come the summer. Just an observation, not a critique. Happy for them both to fight it out to be no1 this season, they should offer enough.

Think their go for Sam Tickle if we go up.

I am not unhappy with the goalkeepers and yes there are better about but both are decent at this standard for me. If we go up then it would a position I would want strengthening. The goal against us on Saturday happens to the best of keepers. Very frustrating for him you could see. Make a mistake as a goalkeeper and it is a howler.
Now we need to get the side to gel. Played some very good football first half and need to score more when we are on top. At only one nil up we left them with a back door into the game. When they pushed up at the end of the first half and for the first twenty minutes of the second half we should have picked them off but in time that will come. We are still a work in progress and a month from now I expect us to be just too good for team’s like Wigan no matter how they play and especially if they try pressing us high.
For me I have no complaints about the squad depth and think we will be alright for the task ahead.

Not worried as such (yet) but we've lost two full backs to injury so the cover is already down typically just as the window closed.
Time and patience is the key now. These players are now playing in a totally unique situation - one that has never been seen (or likely to be ever seen again) in League One. Yes they are professional footballers but there's bound to be an element of nervousness because of the expectation that is on them, and the club, this season.
Some of these players will deep down know they are stop-gaps and won't play a part when we get to the PL so it's a case of enjoying yourself, getting a winners medal for being champions but knowing there are 27,000+ Bluenoses watching your every move.
Let's all get behind them, support them even when things don't go to plan and enjoy the moment because promotion will lead to tougher games - great time to be a Bluenose 💙

Couldn't agree more there Gammo, nicely put.
I think the loan market is still open isnt it ( i could be wrong ) but if needed could dip further into there if required

Said the same ever since they signed, satsfactory but neither for me good enough for a championship top side gunning for the prem and expect one will be replaced before or during next season.
Thought Okwonko and Tickle looked like a couple of obvious targets but perhaps Davies had being able to play out as his no.1 focus possibly reasoning that we'll have that much of the ball that any keeper won't have to face a bombardment and any compromise on shot saving ability/other keeping skills would be minimally felt. Not saying that's necessarily what I think but I could understand someone coming to that conclusion in this division for this season.
That line of thinking could be further stengthened if they had one or two better targets in mind but had to put off landng them until they got up a level which seems to be generally accepted as the case most of the time during this transfer window.

Would have thought Okwonko would only ever be going to Wrexham.

I wasn’t overly impressed with Tickle, in terms of his kicking and don’t think he’s the answer.
He didn’t strike me as a good footballing keeper which is what we want.
Leeds fans said Bpf, had weak wrists and Hull, fans blamed Allsop, for not making the playoffs.
That Callum Fowler, on YouTube said both were good enough at this level. I think he’s right but we will need better to mount a challenge in the championship.

That's what I said. Who's Callum Fowler?
Re Tickle (and Okwonko for that matter) probably a better all round keeper than ours, would suggest to be the equal of ours with the ball at their feet and be better keepers was a tall order for div one.

Let's worry about that when we are in the championship, we still have to get out of this bloody division first.

Yes I 100% agree getting a keeper that’s good at both jobs in league one was near on impossible. Callum Fowler, is this young fella and he’s very knowledgeable.

It all closes at the same time. There is an option for loaning a goalkeeper in an injury crisis but regular loans are no longer possible util the transfer market opens in January as I understand it. Please correct me if I am wrong on this anyone.

No you're right, just to add you can still sign players that are out of contract outside of the window, noticed Mahlon Romeeo parted ways with Cardiff (just in case Laird is worse than thought) but still have to count any injured after submitting 25 man (22 excl keepers in div one) as part of your total and don't know where we're at with that.

Listening to the ‘keep right on’ podcast it was interesting hearing how highly Iwota, is rated by the backroom staff. I think his pedigree has gone under the radar a bit.
He’s played in the champions league and by all accounts the Celtic fans were sad to see him go.

I really kike this lad and at this level he will be very good indeed. As much as I like Paik and Leonard playing together we will need a bit of steel in the heart of the midfield and with ability also. I think Iwata will bring that. I think he will be an excellent signing for us.

Iwata is a very strong defensive midfielder. His passing is excellent and he also has a powerful shot on him. He is an upgrade on Paik. I would love to see the three of them in a 433 but I think CD will play 2 midfielders and rotate Iwata, Leonard, Paik and TGH.

The depth is quite good (still on fence with keepers)
GK - BPF, Allsopp, Mayo
RB - Laird, Sampsted, TGH, Khela LB - Cochrane, Buchanan, Davies, Khela CB - Bielik, Klarer, Sanderson, Davies
CM - Paik, Leonard, Iwata, Bielik, TGH, Harris, Thor, Chang
AM - Harris, Thor, Yoko, Hansson, Keshi, Leonard, Stansfield, Wright
ST - May, Stansfield, Juke, Dykes
Even with plenty of changes the line up against Walsall will be strong:
Allsop
Khela Cochrane Davies Klarer
Leonard Iwata
Yoko Stansfield Wright
Juke
Would be my stab.

Apart from Stanno, which is obvious, the ONE I am looking forward most to seeing in a Blues shirt is Iwata. There’s no airbrushing that….. Honestly, apart from all the other signings, my feeling is that with adding Stanno and Iwata to the team and them both firing - we will be awesome. Just add that some of the other signings also looking really good. Especially excited as well about Ayumu. Look at the positions he took up against Wigan. Looks like a very lively and intelligent player, he could become something special 🤞

Both are going to do very well for us and still can't quite believe that we have managed to bring both Stansfield and Iwata to League One on the same day.
