Was just a matter of time - now let's just stay in this bloody division this season. Would be awesome to see an announcement from Tom and Gary - I suppose that'll be at the next fans night in a couple of weeks time.

Absolutely fantastic that they have secured it and the future is thus mapped out. It was never in doubt but I am surprised that it has come now., sooner than I expected. But this is now a focus and a destination. It’s just time that remains the uncertainty. We so need to stay up. KRO

KRO Maybe releasing the news now, just before the most important eight games in our recent history, is for a boost for the fans, the players, and the club as a whole - it's certainly got the social media buzzing so hopefully it's worked with the players too 🤞🏻

Hopefully there will be plans/a model for the fans to see at the next fan night in a couple of weeks time 👍🏻

Hopefully there will be plans/a model for the fans to see at the next fan night in a couple of weeks time 👍🏻 Yes I thought that was the aim but news has broken early of the deal in the press. Spoilt the thunder a bit for the club but yes there will be illustrative material ready to present. For me it’s how are they going to provide access and better links to Eastside.

For me I thought purchase would be a year or more away. Assume council wanted the cash.
I’d be stunned if not in ground by 2030 perhaps 2028 is a good target.

Wouldn't surprise me if they had already verbally agreed a sale of the land when they met Andy Street for lunch last summer. On the point of it being released now and not at the open event, it's actually worked out better as the clicking on social media will now be done TWICE instead of once so more kerching for the club 👍🏻

FFS. Even further from town, even less pubs by it & even worse to get to/from. Cancel it NOW!

Does anyone think the new stadium might not be called St Andrews ?

I would imagine the new stadium would be named after the biggest price company. Such as Emarites?

Would be a nice touch if they gave the pubs closest to St Andrews (currently) a beer truck/stand at the new fan park at the new stadium (for a season or two) so soften the blow of the stadium moving.

FFS. Even further from town, even less pubs by it & even worse to get to/from. Cancel it NOW! St Martin's to Tilton Road is 1.41 miles St Martin's to Wheels is 1.78 miles Assume they will link Garrison Street or make changes to the walkways in a more straight lined way or effectively crows flight this would mean the distance would be at worst 2 minutes more walking. Assuming HS2 gets done the links from there into the city would be vastly improved and fans will benefit from this. Sadly old Fcuks like me will be in a mobility scooter by then I'm looking forward to dodging that bloody hill at St Andrews where my kids have no sympathy me. My mate has done security up Wheels way for many years and he said there are so many ways the walk can be shortened and this will change when various old buildings are cleared to make way for a very open plan area that is more appealing to foreign visitors. I know one thing it will be a sad sad day when we leave St Andrews but we simply have to move on. Maybe if we can escape the curse get a full stadium week in week out in the EPL it will be a sound footing to actually win another trophy.

They should do some sort of elevated monorail. Think outside the box.

If we’re going to spend all this money for a super stadium then we need some massive cooperation from Birmingham City Council. If we are going to put on American football, pop concerts etc, as well of course football, than how are we going to get all these people to the stadium? And away from it also? I’ve already suggested a railway line and stadium, but one other solution would be the tram. We need a line running from the south to the north of the city. This would be a great way of getting us there instead of trying to find somewhere to park your car. What do you reckon?

The council’s formal approval for the sale of the land is today when the Property Committee meets. Obviously both the council and the club have not been able to comment before then but I would expect that statements will be made after today..

I cannot see the council helping out with money but they can with planning permissions, road alterations and in other indirect but important ways. I really cannot see the project not involving a train station at the complex as this will be the most efficient way to get large numbers of people in and out of the area quickly and safely. I am not sure about trams on their own but as a way of getting people from the city centre, the HS2 station and New Station in addition a train station would be excellent. I have noticed the tramline they are putting down in Digbeth has a dead end turning on to either Floodgate street, or Mill Lane (I am not sure which). It turns into the left and stops. I walk past it on the way to the ground on match days and have wondered why it is there. It is in the right general direction to the Wheels site and any additional work needed because the spur is in place, would not affect the tram line running up to Camp Hill. Probably bollox on my part but I do love a conspiracy theory. Looking forward to more information hopefully later today or tomorrow when the sale is confirmed by the council and the club can give us details and timescales of their plans.

Yes, this was really my only concern regarding the Wheels site (i.e. access to it). Back in the 70’s I worked for quite a few years at the steel company on the corner of Adderley Road and Landor Street, so my memories are of dereliction and dead end streets.
Adderley Park station worth mentioning? It is (or was) little more than a bus stop, but is there any scope for a major rebuild of that station? Then you would have direct access from both New Street AND International/Airport. It’s a very short stroll from there to the new ground.

It's plan is to go up Floodgate St, across the Ring Road, up through the housing estate behind The Railway End stand and then sweeps around the car park heading off to Chelmsley Wood/NEC. The problem is that the track in Digbeth is 99% done but trams won't run on it for at least another 6 YEARS (HS2 station has to be built before it can connect to the main line in the city centre) 🤦🏼♂️
